Boat docks in Dadeville
Dock building and repair around the Tallapoosa County seat and its share of the Lake Martin shoreline.
Dadeville has been the seat of Tallapoosa County since 1838 and had 3,084 residents at the 2020 census. The town was surveyed in 1836 and named for Major Francis Langhorne Dade. Martin Dam's completion on the Tallapoosa River in 1926 created Lake Martin, and the lake has had a strong economic impact on the city ever since.
Winter levels in shallow sloughs
Many lots sit on sloughs that get shallow when the lake drops toward 484 feet in the fall. A fixed dock that's fine in July can be stranded in December. A floating dock, or careful placement in deeper water, can keep the boat afloat in winter, and the gangway has to work across the whole range.
Typical projects
- Floating docks for lots on shallow sloughs
- Gangway and hinge replacements
- Boathouse roofs and storage on the shore end
- Riprap where the bank is wearing away
The one-third rule in narrow water
In a narrow slough, no structure, including a moored boat, can extend more than one-third of the way across at full pool, and some restricted sloughs have tighter limits. A builder will measure across at full pool before sketching anything.
Common questions
My slough goes nearly dry in winter. What are my options?
A floating dock placed in deeper water, or a layout that fits within the one-third rule, can help. A builder can check depth at winter pool.
Do you cover Jacksons Gap too?
Yes. Call with your address and we'll connect you with a builder who works that shoreline.
